A Monthly Season Ticket is a monthly train pass that allows you to travel at any time of day, including evenings and on weekends, as much as you want for one calendar month between the stations shown on your ticket. This also includes travel to any stations in-between on your route.
What’s more, a Monthly Season Ticket is cheaper than buying four Weekly Season Tickets over the same period of time.
We can help you find new ways to save and be in control of your commute, with live times, real-time platform info and digital tickets all in one place for smoother travel.

As with digital train tickets, you can now get Digital Monthly Season Tickets that live on your phone. You’ll just need to carry your photocard with you to validate the ticket when asked.
On selected routes in the UK, Monthly Season tickets are available as digital barcodes, meaning you won’t even need to carry a separate photocard. That's one thing you won't have to remember!
You’ll need our iOS or Android app to purchase a Digital Monthly Season Ticket.
You can buy your Monthly Season Ticket online with us rather than having to queue at the station to buy it on the day of travel. Simply head to our Season ticket Calculator and follow these simple steps:
* Please note that it’s not possible to use a Railcard with Season tickets as they’re already discounted. The exceptions are the 16-17 Saver, Highland Railcards, Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card, TfW 18 Saver Railcard, TfW Student Railcard, Valleys Student Railcard and Young Scot National Entitlement Card. These can be applied on selected journeys in their area of validity (for example, a TfW Student Railcard gets you a discount on Season tickets in Wales only). When asked by rail staff, you must show a valid ticket and your valid Railcard signed by you (plus your Railcard Photocard if required).
Buying your Monthly Season Ticket for the first time? Make sure you have a Photocard to use as proof of ID. If you don’t have a Photocard, you can either request one free of charge from us by filling in this form or take a passport-sized photo to your local ticket office and they’ll make you one for free.
If you already have a Photocard, you can tell us your Photocard number at the time of purchase and we’ll match it up to your Monthly Season Ticket. Just remember that you’ll always need to bring both your Photocard and Monthly Season Ticket with you when travelling.

You can get a refund on the remaining portion of your unused Monthly Season Ticket if it has seven or more days' validity remaining. Read our help guide to refunding a UK Season ticket for more information.
