Travelling with Greater Anglia from London to Norwich

Getting to London Liverpool Street station

My train to Norwich departed from London Liverpool Street station, Britain’s third busiest station. It serves around 64 million passengers per year and is usually the starting point for journeys from London to Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

I took the tube to reach the station – it's on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan Lines, so getting there is quite easy.

Boarding the train

I travelled from London to Norwich with Greater Anglia. As I had already booked my ticket online, I didn’t have to queue at the station to buy or collect my train ticket. I just scanned my eticket to get through the ticket gate and quickly boarded my train a few minutes before it was due to depart. I quickly found a window seat with a table – the train was quite empty – I put my luggage away on the luggage racks and sat down ready to enjoy my journey.

The journey

The train took about one hour and a half to get from London to Norwich, after calling at London Stratford, Chelmsford, Colchester, Manningtree, Ipswich, Stowmarket, and Diss.

On board there were information displays showing where exactly I was during the journey, so I just sat back and relaxed, making use of the free WiFi available and listening to some music. Once the train stopped in Norwich, I headed towards the station exit and joined my cousin who was waiting for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed the journey – taking the train is so much better than driving, I highly recommend it!
