Trains to Romford

On the outskirts of London, Romford’s train station opened in 1839, maintaining the importance of the town as a popular market destination and bringing new industries to the town, most notably the Ind Coope & Co brewery, which with the arrival of the train line could now transport ales into the capital and beyond; some of the brewery’s station still stand today. Although Crossrail is on its way to Romford, the station is currently on the Shenfield-Liverpool Street line, connecting the commuters of Essex with London. Since expanding rapidly in the 1930s, Romford is now a suburban shopping haven attracting some 21 million shoppers per year. An eclectic mix of high-street shops, including four malls and numerous restaurants and cafés, are all within walking distance of the station. The outdoor traditional market dating back to 1247 is also worth a visit.
