Railjet trains are ÖBB’s high-speed service in Austria. Having been Introduced only a few years ago, these trains are modern, comfortable and will quickly get you where you need to be. Hop on a Railjet train and travel between the main cities in Austria, or go further afield to neighbouring countries like Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland.

These high-speed trains in Europe can travel at a giddy top speed of 230 km/h and cater to all kinds of travellers, from commuters to families to tourists. As we mentioned before, Railjet trains are the most modern service in ÖBB’s fleet, featuring comfortable seating, up-to-date facilities and designated family and quiet areas so everyone can enjoy their journey.
Family zone – designed with kids in mind, this area features games, a children’s cinema, nappy-changing facilities and room for prams. You can find the family zone in the last Second-Class carriage on Railjet trains (usually carriage 21 of 31).
Quiet zone – ideal for those who want to get some work done or just fancy a bit of peace and quiet. These are located throughout First and Second-Class carriages (usually 27, 37, 23 or 33)

The ÖBB ticket system is easy to understand. For most routes, tickets can be booked up to six months in advance – if you know the dates you’d like to travel, booking in advance can often save you money.

The least flexible of all the ticket types, you must travel on the train you originally booked at the specified time. These are strictly non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
A semi-flexible ticket option, it’s only valid for your selected train. However, reimbursement is possible up until the day before your travel date, for a fee of €10. The refund will be given in the form of a voucher.
These tickets are the most flexible for those who wish to change their travel dates and times. Flexpreis tickets allow for free exchange and/or a refund until midnight the day before departure.
