Manor Park station is in the London Borough of Newham, and opened in 1873, back when the town was still part of Essex. It lies on the Great Eastern Main Line, which travels between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield. Trains from Manor Park into London stop at Stratford, which offers interchange with London Overground, London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services, as well as access to the Olympic Park. On Sundays half of the services in the direction of Shenfield terminate at Gidea Park.
Just to the south of the station is the Romford Road, where you'll find the area's the main collection of shops and services. Romford Road also links Manor Park station with the nearby Woodgrange Park station - it's about a six-minute walk between the two. To the north of Manor Park station are the Wanstead Flats, a large public space that includes woodlands, ponds, and football pitches. The Wanstead Flats are the southernmost section of Epping Forest.
