They are doing this all with a fleet of ETR1000 model trains that offer the highest level of comfort in Spain, with a combination of advanced propulsion and highest quality onboard services, including WiFi connection and catering service. 98% of the parts of the trains are 100% recyclable, making this trip sustainable as well!

Renfe is the national train operator in Spain. It operates trains on the longest high-speed railway network in Europe, and the second-longest in the world. The country's major cities are linked up by the high-speed AVE and Avlo trains, while other long-distance routes are served by Altaria, Talgo, Alvia and Euromed trains. Renfe also operates cross-border services into neighbouring Portugal and France. Depending on which service you are travelling on, you'll usually find two classes on Renfe trains - Estándard (Standard Class) and Confort (First Class). Traveling by train from Madrid to Valencia has never been so easy

Due to work reasons, I am a frequent traveler on the Madrid to Valencia route. In fact, I travel from Madrid to Valencia and back again around once a month.

On AVE trains, all seats fold down and have footrests, armrests, folding tables, WiFi and two plugs to charge electronic devices. If you want to stretch your legs, AVE trains have a cafeteria car where you can purchase food and drinks. The journey took less than 2 hours and as I had a window seat, I spent most of the time looking at the impressive coastal views.

Since 2010, AVE has been the only train company to operate on the Madrid to Valencia route. However, in recent years, new operators have begun to take travelers from the capital to the Levantine coast, such as:

  • Avlo: Renfe's low-cost brand
  • OUIGO: the low-cost, high-speed French operator
  • iryo: a new brand offering a premium service on bright red trains

Trainline is the best place to book train tickets from Madrid to Valencia, as you can find all the information you need in one app on your phone. Before Trainline, I had to download 5 different apps on my phone. Now, I just have to use one. Trainline is super easy and intuitive to use, and I can keep my ticket on my phone too.
