Luther: The Fallen Sun filming locations
Where to find the Luther: The Fallen Sun film locations in London.
Piccadilly Circus
Closest stations: Charing Cross | Piccadilly Circus (Underground)
Mild spoiler alert: that big showdown in Piccadilly Circus? That was the real Piccadilly Circus. A minimal amount of CGI was used but the overwhelming majority of that scene was the real deal. Other Luther: The Fallen Sun locations were considered but were deemed impractical for this scene. Ironically, shutting down Piccadilly Circus for the longest shoot ever filmed in this junction was surprisingly more practical from a production standpoint.
Aldwych Tube Station
Closest stations: Charing Cross | Temple (Underground) | Covent Garden (Underground)
The Aldwych Tube Station is where Idris Elba and Andy Serkis’s characters come to blows early in the film. This Luther movie location is not an active subway station; it was part of the London Underground, shuttered in 1994, and is now often used for series and films like V for Vendetta.

Chinatown
Closest stations: Charing Cross | Leicester Square (Underground)
Chinatown pops up in Luther: The Fallen Sun; you can pick out landmarks like the Horse & Dolphin Yard in the background.
Fleet Street
Closest station: City Thameslink
Like Chinatown, Fleet Street is also seen as a Luther: The Fallen Sun movie location. Follow Fleet Street east and you’ll run into St. Paul’s Cathedral; follow it west and you’ll be on the Strand.
Pinewood Studios
Closest station: Langley
Full disclosure: only mixing and mastering of the film was done at Pinewood Studios, but we mention it because Luther: The Fallen Sun is far from the first movie you’ve seen that used Pinewood’s services. We’ve got a list of other series and filmed shot at Pinewood Studios that you can visit, including:
📽️ Saltburn
📺 Citadel
📽️ Harry Potter
Bonus Luther: The Fallen Sun movie location — HM Prison Dorchester
Closest stations: Dorchester West | Dorchester South
Now closed to inmates but opening its doors to tours (and the occasional production crew), HMP Dorchester was the Luther movie location for the prison scenes.
