Gidea Park in a Travelcard Zone 6 station in the borough of Havering, just 13 miles and 27 minutes from London Liverpool Street. The station opened in 1910 as as Gidea Park & Squirrels Heath, and has been serving local commuters for over 100 years - it's set to get even busier in 2019, when Gidea Park is incorporated into the Crossrail network.
Something of a commuter paradise, Gidea Park boasts great transport links into the City from one of the greenest areas in Greater London. The standout space is Raphael Park, a park with a beautiful lake and large playground, and there are several golf clubs in the surrounding area too. The station is named after the 13th century Gidea Hall where Lady Jane Grey was tutored - it was demolished in 1718, and today the architecturally eclectic Romford Garden Suburb stands in its place, representing another wave of this commuter-friendly town's development.

Gidea Park station can be accessed on either side. The main entrance is on Station Road and leads directly into the concourse, with a ticket counter on the right and ticket machines directly ahead. The platforms are below concourse level and must be accessed via a footbridge - there is no step-free access to them. Most services depart from platforms 3 (towards London) and 4 (towards Shenfield). An alternative entrance off Crossways leads to the platform 4 side of the footbridge.
