Travelling from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria by train

Getting to Gatwick Airport station

Gatwick Airport station is located in the South Terminal. As I landed at the North Terminal, I had to take the free shuttle bus available at the airport to get to the South Terminal and board my train back home. The shuttle service runs 24 hours every day and takes about two minutes to travel between the two terminals.

Boarding the train

Having already booked my digital ticket with Trainline, I had a quick look at the departure boards to check where my train was departing from. I showed my ticket to the railway staff, got through the ticket gates, and queued for about 5 minutes before getting on board. I stored my luggage away and headed to my window seat I had reserved online.

The journey

After spending almost half a day between airport transfers, check-in and the flight itself, all I wanted to do was to get back home quickly, that’s why I took the Gatwick Express – it took me about 30 minutes to get to London Victoria, as the train runs all the way to Victoria without stopping. I made use of the free WiFi available on board throughout the journey, as well as the power socket at my seat to keep my phone charged.

Once I hopped off, I headed towards the underground station entrance and took the District Line back home. The Gatwick Express is definitely the quickest and best option to travel from Gatwick Airport to London, I highly recommend it!
