The nearest train station to Edinburgh Castle is Edinburgh Waverley. Edinburgh Castle is located in the centre of Edinburgh and is a short walk from Waverley train station - albeit up a pretty steep hill! Edinburgh Waverley Station is the main railway station in Edinburgh and as such many direct rail services are available. The station is situated on the east end of Princes Street, whilst the Castle should be visible upon exiting the station.

About Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress perched above the city skyline of Edinburgh, Scotland. Research undertaken in 2014 identified Edinburgh Castle fell foul to 26 sieges in its 1100-year-old history, giving it a claim to having been "the most besieged place in Great Britain and one of the most attacked in the world". Despite this, and due to numerous renovations, the castle still stands in great standing and impeccable condition given its age.
The castle is currently Scotland's most visited tourist attraction, bringing in over 1.4 million visitors per year.
