In October 2021, Charlie joined the Trainline team. Over the last couple of years, he has primarily focused on UK, European and sustainable travel. More recently, Charlie hopped on Japan’s ultra-modern bullet trains and travelled across Japan, from Tokyo to Hiroshima and back again!

Nothing makes Charlie happier than sitting in a foreign country, chatting to friends and sampling the local beer. Closer to home, Charlie lives in London and enjoys playing football, reading historical fiction and discovering historical pubs.

Favorite train trip

In April 2023, I took the train from Kanazawa to Takayama in the Japanese countryside. I read my book and sipped a beer as we traced the Miya River, pausing to stare at the snowcapped Japanese mountains. It was like a dream!
