Cannes Train Station

Cannes train station is ideally located right in the city centre and a mere 350 metres north of the famous Promenade de la Croisette. The station’s architecture combines both traditional and contemporary aspects, and the building is easily recognisable thanks to its imposing bay window. Close to 550 trains pass through Cannes train station every day, making use of its two platforms and three tracks. These include TGV trains and the TER Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur trains. Two of the most popular routes that the annual 3.2 million passengers travelling through the station take are Paris-Cannes, with a journey time of 5h15mins, and Nice-Cannes, which is a short 20-minute journey. The station is well connected locally, with PalmBus operating 12 routes that serve various parts of the city, including two that operate at night. Catching a taxi is also a simple option here because they can be found in the courtyard right outside!

Main attractions near Cannes train station

Cannes train station’s central location makes it the perfect spot to begin exploring the city. Just a few blocks south, towards the seafront, visitors will find the exciting Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, where the red carpet is rolled out each year to welcome the world’s most famous film stars. Strolling along the neighbouring Promenade des Fêtes, travellers can take the opportunity to visit one of the most iconic symbols of Cannes, a hotel called Le Majestic, which has a history that has long been intertwined with cinema.

It takes a 10-minute walk, crossing the Promenade de la Pantiero and the Quai Saint-Pierre, to reach Le Vieux Port from here. This is the ideal place to find a terrace from which to admire the passing yachts and boats. Getting here directly from the station itself will also take visitors around 10 minutes on foot. Located just behind this area is the imposing Le Suquet quarter. The famous 11th-century castle built here by monks is a wonderful and educational site to visit, and it only requires a further 5-minute walk using the tower’s staircase.

Visitors might then be tempted by one of the numerous restaurants and bars situated between Cannes train station and La Croisette, where they can simultaneously indulge in their dining and soak up the glamourous atmosphere. Alternatively, for those who wish to buy some of the unmissable local specialities to take away, such as olive oil or meats, the historic Forville market is just 600 metres west of Cannes train station.
