Is Call Me by Your Name a true story?

No, Call Me by Your Name is not based on a true story, nor is the book that acts as its source material. The author actually started writing Call Me by Your Name as a distraction while he was supposed to be writing another novel.

What is the age gap between Elio and Oliver?

Elio is 17 years old and Oliver is 24 years old in Call Me by Your Name, though there’s actually a nine-year age gap between actors Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer.

Will there ever be a Call Me by Your Name sequel?

That’s a tough answer. Call Me by Your Name was based on a novel of the same name by André Aciman and already has a sequel called Find Me. From a cinematic perspective, it’s a mixed bag. Potential sequel plans were dashed a few years ago when Armie Hammer was jammed up in a scandal; however, some of the crew are optimistic that a sequel is still on the table. Since Find Me takes place years into the future, time in between films will only add to the sequel’s accurate retelling.

Where is the waterfall in Bergamo in Call Me by Your Name?

The waterfall in Bergamo featured in Call Me by Your Name is called the Serio Waterfalls. It’s located northeast of Bergamo in the Bergamasque Alps Regional Park. By far the quickest way to Valbondione, where the easiest trails start, is by bus from Bergamo.

Bergamo

Closest station: Bergamo

Dance through the Piazza Rosate in the historic center of Bergamo Alta like they did in the film. Fast train connections to Bergamo from tourist hotspots like Milan and Lake Como make Bergamo a great home base for exploring other Call Me by Your Name filming locations.

Pandino

Closest station: Caseletto Vaprio

The backdrop to a key scene in the development of Elio and Oliver’s relationship, Pandino is a small town just northwest of Crema whose Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III features the Monumento ai Caduti (Monument to the Fallen).

Fontanile Quarantina

Closest station: Capralba

If you’re not up for the literal hike it takes to reach the Serio Waterfalls featured in the film, a stroll through Fontanile Quarantina is the next best thing. Located just beyond the city center of Capralba, this reserve is home to Elio’s “special place”.

Lake Garda

Lake Garda is the largest and one of the best lakes in Italy. There’s loads to do if you’re keen to travel by bus along its banks or stay at a hotel, but if you’re looking for Call Me by Your Name filming locations, take the train to Desanzano del Garda and head northeast to Sirmione to see the Grotte di Catullo archaeological site Elio and Oliver visited with Professor Perlman.

Crema

Closest station: Crema

The Piazza Duomo is one of the most popular filming locations from Call Me by Your Name that moviegoers visit. Located a half-mile from the Crema train station, the piazza has arranged props like those from the movie (a table, chairs, and bicycles) for fans to take photos. The Villa Albergoni featured in the film is nearby in Moscazzano, though it’s privately owned and closed to the public.

Pizzighettone

Closest station: Ponte D’Adda

We’re suckers for train stations in cinema. Although the Clusone station is referenced in the film, it was actually filmed at Ponte d’Adda train station in Pizzighettone. There’s no train station in Clusone, sorry to say.

Call me by your name, unless you’re reading an Italian train board

Reading the train station boards in Italy can be confusing, especially when English words like Florence are primarily written in Italian as Firenze.
