Naples Airport (NAP) - also known as Naples-Capodichino Airport or Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli, is Italy's fourth busiest international airport, with millions of passengers arriving and departing each year. The airport is located roughly 2.5 miles from the center of Naples.

If you're flying to or from Naples, there’s a good chance you’ll need to travel to or from Naples Airport. Don’t worry – it's easy to get there using public transport.

How to get from Naples Airport to Naples by bus

Flying into Naples Airport? To get to the city center, you can use public transport such as the dedicated Alibus shuttle bus.

Buses from Naples Airport

If you’ve landed at Naples Airport and you need to get to the city center, you can take the Alibus shuttle bus. Alibus operates a dedicated shuttle bus service running straight from the airport to central Naples and Naples port.

  • First bus from the airport: 5:30 am
  • Last bus from the airport: 12:00 am (midnight)

The journey from Naples Airport to Piazza Garibaldi (the bus stop outside Naples Central Station) takes around 15 minutes on an Alibus service. If you’re traveling onwards to the port, journey times are around 35 minutes. Buses run around every 15 minutes.

Naples to Milan

You can travel by train from Naples to Milan – with no changes needed! The fastest Frecciarossa and Italo trains can take under 5 hours to make this journey. Since it’s a direct route, all you need to do is find your seat and take in the views (or just have a nap, we won’t judge).

You’ll likely arrive at Milano Centrale station - and traveling from city center to city center means you can head out of the train station straight into the action, with no need to worry about airport transfers.

Naples to Bari

Traveling from Naples to Bari Centrale takes around 4 hours, with one transfer between a regional Trenitalia train and a Frecciarossa train (usually in Caserta).

First, for all of these journeys, you’ll need to take an Alibus service to Napoli Centrale station (Naples Central Station). This is where high-speed trains depart from.

Traveling to Rome

Once you’re at Napoli Centrale, take a Frecciarossa or Italo train to Roma Termini train station. It’ll take just over an hour, and you’ll arrive in Rome city center. Perfect if you’re looking for a sightseeing day trip, or just a practical way to travel between these two popular Italian destinations. Traveling from Naples to Vietri sul Mare-Amalfi (the first town on the Amalfi Coast) can take around an hour on the fastest services. You can take a regional train or a high-speed Frecciarossa train to Salerno, and then hop on a bus from Salerno to Vietri sul Mare-Amalfi. The bus is included in your train ticket.
