When it comes to population, Dundee, Scotland just misses the podium.
And while it doesn’t get the gold, silver, or bronze medal like Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen, Dundee is no sore loser. Between the Antarctic expedition ship RRS Discovery to the V&A Museum and The McManus art gallery and museum — there is plenty to explore in this city.
In no particular ranking, these hotels in Dundee will delight you as much as the city will.

1. Hotel Indigo Dundee, an IHG Hotel
Best for: a strong drink after a long travel day
The building may be a former 19th-century textile mill, but the bar is brand new. Hotel Indigo Dundee urges you to drop your bags and enjoy a single malt. Or two. Or three. However many malts you may muster, help is available in the morning via a full Scottish breakfast at the Daisy Tasker bistro and a 24-hour gym for you to sweat the scotch out.
2. Sleeperz Hotel Dundee
Best for: getting from the platform to a pillow ASAP
Did the night train from London to Edinburgh not lull you to sleep? Then Sleeperz Hotel will get the job done. Wake up well-rested for a visit to the V&A Dundee or Discovery Point and RRS Discovery museums.
3. The Landmark Hotel and Leisure Club
Best for: resting and recharging
Take a note from the Tesla Supercharger station in the parking lot to recharge your own batteries at The Landmark Hotel and Leisure Club. 5. Taypark House
Best for: that stately home-away-from-home feeling
Taypark House overlooks the city and the University of Dundee Botanic Garden, making this boutique 14-room hotel feel like your own private getaway. You can plan the day around meal service: afternoon tea and scrumptious scones, romantic dome dining under the stars, then a tipple in the gin bar.
6. Fisherman's Tavern
Best for: laidback slumber by the sea
The 17th-century cottages that make up the Fisherman’s Tavern are a half-mile from the Broughty Ferry train station and not much farther from the Broughty Castle Museum and Broughty Ferry Beach. Don’t worry if you don’t get the Desperate Dan reference; you’ll be mates with the bloke by the time you check out of Dundee Backpackers Hostel. Shared dorms and private rooms are both available. Amenities include a self-catered kitchen, game room, and a library. Step outside and you’ll meet the Desperate Dan statue: a cowboy character from old Scottish comics.
