The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy is an Apple TV+ exclusive series — and we’d eagerly swap places with Mr. Levy should his reluctance get the best of him. From Africa and Central America to the USA and Europe, this two-season show mixes globetrotting with humor and heart.
We’ve rounded up all of the European hotels Eugene Levy stayed at in Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler.

Where was The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy filmed?
Eugene Levy, the reluctant traveler, was probably not as “reluctant” as the title suggests: the show was filmed across 13 countries. If someone dragged us to Costa Rica, South Africa, the Maldives, Utah, and Japan, we’d fancy ourselves the “rewarded traveler”.
And you, the railworthy traveler, can complete your own Reluctant Traveler Apple TV+-esque adventure. We’ve now rounded up all the European hotels Eugene Levy visited on The Reluctant Traveler.
FYI: few of these hotels are within walking distance of train stations, but even though you may need to bus, boat, or bum a ride, we assure you there’ll be nothing regrettable about your trip.
Arctic Bath, Harads, Sweden
Closest station: Lakaträsk Station
The Reluctant Traveler Season 2 kicks off a fully-European season in Sweden. Swedish Lapland is where you’ll find the Arctic Bath hotel, floating right in the Lule River. Kayaking, moose calling, and attending the Midsummer festival were on Levy’s itinerary. You’re welcome to hike with huskies, forage for wild edible plants, or just hangout in the spa.
Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, Rovaniemi, Finland
Closest station: Rovaniemi
The Reluctant Traveler begins way up in the Arctic Circle where Eugene Levy takes a sleigh ride to Arctic TreeHouse Hotel. The cozy Arctic GlassHouses have their own fireplaces and saunas, so they’re a perfect retreat no matter the season. In the show, Eugene Levy sipped vodka and plunged a fishing line into the ice; your complimentary activities include equally relaxing moments, such as forest bathing and guided evening Nordic walks.
Gritti Palace, Venice, Italy
Closest station: Venice Santa Lucia
Gritti Palace’s prime location on the Grand Canal makes it a coveted five-star hotel in Venice. It’s the setting for the third episode, mind you, so by now we’re sure that the gondola riding actor is far less reluctant than he was. You can stay in a Venetian room with waterway views; just remember that it was once the Doge of Venice’s private residence so such opulence will cost you.

Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal
Closest station: Cais do Sodré
Walk up a few of the cobblestone hills of Lisbon and you’ll find the hotel featured in The Reluctant Traveler: Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina Hotel. The penultimate episode of the first season, Lisbon’s episode saw Levy embrace the flavors, sounds, and colors of the romantic, often melancholic Lisboa. The Queen’s Royal Suite will keep a smile on your face with its hand-painted silk wallpapers and gorgeous iconic tilework.
Candacraig, Strathdon, Scotland
Closest station: Broomhill
In The Reluctant Traveler, Levy visits Glasgow before heading to Candacraig in the Highlands. You can do the same by train, though you will need a cab from Broomhill station to the hotel.
Staying at the Candacraig is blissful and its neighbors aren’t anything to scoff at (Balmoral, Queen Elizabeth’s beloved summer home, is just minutes away). It has 12 bedrooms — but you’ll find yourself spending more time either in the whisky library sipping single malts or beside the fireplace in the Drawing Room.
Hôtel Lily of the Valley, La Croix-Valmer, France
Closest station: Fréjus
Joan Collins welcomes Eugene Levy to the South of France for oyster tasting and beekeeping before escaping to Hôtel Lily of the Valley. Should you do the same (minus the bees), you’ll find pool suites, a beach club, four restaurants, and stunning views waiting for you.

Lanserhof Sylt, List, Germany
Closest station: Westerland (Sylt)
Put List, well, on your list. The Reluctant Traveler did for Season 2 when they filmed at Lanserhof Sylt in Germany. It looks a bit off the beaten path, so much so that when you gaze across the water you’re looking into Denmark, not Deutschland. Do as the former Johnny Rose did with Lanserhof fasting and hay baths to regenerate and revitalize your mind, body, and soul.
Monteverdi Tuscany, Castiglioncello del Trinoro, Italy
Closest station: Fabro - Ficulle
Color us unsurprised that The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy returned to Italy for its second season. Levy lives la dolce vita with jousting, truffle hunting, and wine tasting. Tuscany is an amazingly easy day trip from Rome that we always recommend. Stay at Monteverdi Tuscany like Levy did and lose yourself in the food, wine, and live performances the hotel hosts around the year.

Milos Cove, Milos, Greece
Main ferry terminal: Adamantas Port
Fishing, eating octopus, and milking goats: the makings of not only a good trip to Greece, but exactly what Eugene Levy did when he visited Milos on The Reluctant Traveler’s Season 2 penultimate episode. On the island of Milos, he stayed at Milos Cove. This five-star resort in the Aegean Sea has suites with pools and offers the difficult decision of choosing between a sea or mountain view.
Hotel Alfonso XIII, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seville, Spain
Closest station: San Bernardo
Seville, a Spanish city that deserves your attention. Hotel Alfonso XIII is one of the most accessible on this list, and its location in the historic heart of the city made it a great focal point for ending The Reluctant Traveler Season 2. Whether you catch a Sevilla FC match like Levy did, or dine on Andalusian cuisine in the hotel’s dashing Restaurante San Fernando, chances are high you’ll swoon for Seville.

What is The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy about?
The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy sees actor Eugene Levy (American Pie, Schitt’s Creek) globetrotting to amazing hotels around the world, making a point to explore the culture and communities of every country he visits. He’s a “reluctant traveler” not in the show itself, but by nature; he wanted an opportunity to get out of his comfort zone and experience the world in new ways.
🚂 Trainline Trivia: Dan Levy (Eugene Levy’s son) was also a reluctant traveler to Europe, albeit in a fictional and completely coincidental way. Netflix’s Good Grief, written-directed-starring Dan Levy, was filmed in London and Paris.
