Travelling from Aberdeen to Glasgow by train

Getting to Aberdeen train station 

In November, I travelled from Aberdeen to Glasgow for a work conference. After deliberating for a while on the best route to drive, I took the advice from a friend and decided to take the train. Taking the train was cost-effective, environmentally friendly and allowed me to do some work during my journey. Aberdeen train station is located next to Union Square shopping centre which is handy if you need to grab any shopping before your journey.  

Boarding the train 

Prior to the journey, I purchased digital tickets. This allowed me to skip the queue for buying or collecting tickets and head straight to Platform 3. After a minor delay, the ScotRail train arrived at Aberdeen train station. Without much hassle, I found a seat at a table and charged my laptop using the plug socket and connected to the free WiFi.  

The journey 

Working on my laptop, the 2-and-a-half-hour journey across Scotland passed quickly. The train provided by ScotRail was modern and clean with free facilities regardless of seating class. The views of the Scottish countryside were spectacular, and I was really pleased with my decision to take the train.  

When I arrived at Glasgow Queen Street train station, I packed up my belongings and exited the station. Nestled in the heart of the city, the station was located a short walk from my hotel. I had a great time working in Glasgow.
